Guided Tour of Historic Castle Hill on the Crane Estate | The Details

Visit Castle Hill at the Crane Estate and experience the grandeur of a seaside estate, its marvelously landscaped grounds, restored Grand Allée, gardens, and Casino complex. You will first join the guided Guest of the Cranes tour then have free time to explore the Grand Allée and gardens.  The tour is a time capsule experience that takes you back to 1929, the Crane family’s first summer in the brand-new Great House. It is the second one the Cranes built at Castle Hill and it’s a stunner! The tour includes the family bedrooms, bathrooms, and guest rooms.  You will be greeted at the door by household staff and your adventure as a “Guest of the Cranes” begins.

Note: The Grande Staircase has 30 steps. Unfortunately, there is no elevator. Headset amplifier available upon request.

Getting to Crane Estate

The day of your event head to North Station and board the 11:30am Newburyport Line Train. Enjoy the ride until the Ipswich Station Stop. Upon exiting the train, a sprinter van will meet you in the parking lot, they will be holding a Keolis massAdventures sign. From there you will be transported back in time to Crane Estate!


The bus will meet you at the front of the estate at 4:50p and transport you back to Ipswich station. You will return on the 5:21p train back to Boston.

*Note* your train tickets will be emailed to you 48 hours prior to departure. These tickets are valid all weekend and allows you to ride any commuter rail line train.

Couple Traveller

I saw the Crane Estate tour on Facebook and thought I would try it out, I have wanted to visit Crane Estate for years but never got around to it. The Keolis massAdventures tour made it easy to get there from the city. The tour guide Elizabeth was informative, and the tour itself was very interesting. The house, grounds and gardens were beautiful
