Nashoba Valley Winery

From the first wines made in a basement in Somerville, the Nashoba Valley Winery has grown into one of Central Massachusetts’ most popular wineries. Producing a wide selection of fruit wines, spirits, and beers, Nashoba Valley Winery is a favorite among locals and visitors.

Southwick’s Zoo 

If you want to see lions, tigers, leopards, and even hyenas, then make your way to Southwick’s Zoo! While it’s only open between April and October, this privately owned zoo promises a fun and informative day out for the whole family. You have the opportunity to get up close to giraffes, rhinos, and sloths for an incredible animal encounter. 

The excitement continues with zip lines, pony rides, and strolls through a deer forest. You can also enjoy live concerts and themed holiday events for Halloween and Christmas.

Purgatory Chasm

While the name Purgatory Chasm may seem foreboding, it’s one of the most beautiful and intriguing natural landmarks in Central MA. Located in Purgatory Chasm State Reservation, this ravine is filled with incredible rock formations. You can embark on the Purgatory Chasm trail, approximately 2 miles in length, to experience this natural phenomenon for yourself. While the exact cause behind its formation is unknown, legend has it that it was created after an Algonquin Indian woman killed a white colonist!

Worcester Art Museum

Since 1898, the Worcester Art Museum has served as a hub of culture for Central Massachusetts. Today, it has a collection of over 38,000 pieces spanning countries and eras. From ancient mosaics to modern masterpieces by Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe and Jackson Pollock, the Worcester Art Museum offers essential exhibitions. The building itself is a sight to behold, with a medieval chapter house rebuilt inside the museum and the Renaissance Court showcasing both art and architecture.
